MONDAYS

Chess K-5th

Learn chess with Magnus Academy (formerly Silver Knights), world champion Magnus Carlsen’s academy!  We’ve taught 100,000 children to play including state and national champions, but most students are beginners looking to learn a new skill and have FUN. Class time is divided between lessons and practice games.  Lessons range from the basic rules to advanced tournament strategies.

 

Students will have the opportunity to play in tournaments (in-person and online) outside of club time.  This in-person club includes free online extras including weekly practice tournaments and an event with world champion Magnus Carlsen or Judit Polgar, the best female chess player of all time.  All chess supplies provided. Glow in the Dark Art with Kidcreate K-5th

These projects will ROCK your child’s world long after the lights go out at night. You guessed it, all the projects we create in this camp will glow-in-the-dark! How cool is that?!?!?! We will be working with a variety of different art supplies including clay, paint and other luminescent materials to create masterpieces your child will be ready to show off in the dark! 

 

Pickleball for Kids 2nd-5th

Pickleball is a fun, fast-paced paddle sport that combines tennis, table tennis and badminton. Kids will learn the rules of the game, and will practice their skills through games. Once they have gotten used to the basics of ball striking and the rules of gameplay, they will work together as a team while competing in fun, lightly competitive tournament style matches. This is a great way to join in on the fastest-growing sport in America!


TUESDAYS

My First Piggy Bank K-2nd

Earn, save, spend, donate! Let's learn about money! This innovative program provides a solid foundation on financial literacy for kids in a fun setting. Games and hands-on activities will help students internalize key concepts (like money, budgeting and saving) in an engaging and supportive environment fostering teamwork. Students use their arts & crafts skills to make their own piggy bank!

 

Flag Football K-5th

Flag football is the fun way to play the great sports, no helmets, no pads and no tackling means zero injuries and tons of FUN. Tons of tag games are played such as capture the flag, farmers and foxes, sharks and minnows to increase speed and agility. Passing, throwing and catching drills are also played.

 

LEGO® SPIKE™ Essential Robotics: Amazing Amusement Park K-5th

Get ready for a thrilling ride with Lego SPIKE Robotics: Amazing Amusement Park! In this course, children will have the opportunity to explore the exciting world of amusement parks as they build and code their own attractions. From ferris wheels to spinning teacups, children will be able to bring their wildest ideas to life through hands-on projects using everyday themes. As they work on their projects, children will continue to develop their computational thinking skills, including the ability to create and follow sequences, identify cause and effect, and understand simple loops. They'll also have the chance to practice testing and debugging programs to ensure that their creations are ready for the amusement park.


WEDNESDAYS

Debate Club 3rd-5th

Students will select debate topics they find appealing, and learn the art of persuasion. Students will work in rotating groups and practice their debating skills in a supportive environment, including developing arguments, issuing rebuttals, providing examples, rebuilding their case and summarizing points of view. Students will learn to think on their feet and enhance their public speaking skills, gaining self-confidence in the process.

 

Note: This club is structured as 3 independent and different modules to be offered year-round (preferred) or individually in the fall, winter or spring.

 

Basketball Academy K-5th

The Love the Ball basketball academy will take your game to the next level. All players will have a basketball at all times which will drastically improve their fundamentals while we play games like king of the court, knockout and farmers and foxes. Advanced skills will also be taught like free throw shooting, crossovers and much more.

 

Cooking: Savory & Sweet K-5th

Just like the name suggests! Each day will feature a sweet treat that will go perfectly with dinner or one savory dish that is sure to become a family favorite! We'll work on learning new baking skills like creaming, whisking, and melting. And cooking skills such as stewing, stir-frying, and sautéing.

THURSDAYS

Kaizen Karate K-5th

Karate: this popular class is a disciplined introduction to the sport by Kaizen Karate. Your child will learn the beautiful art of karate while gaining safety and defensive skills in a respectful environment. The class will also emphasize the basic karate principles of focus, patience and self-discipline. Returning students will continue to work toward new belts while first time students will be able to start the belt program.

Spanish for Kids K-5th

Spanish for Kids is an after-school program designed for boys and girls in grades K to 5 who are interested in learning to speak Spanish. In this program, students will develop communication skills that will enable them to introduce themselves, talk about their preferences, likes, and dislikes, express simple needs, and answer questions. They will also learn to talk about their family members and friends. Throughout the class, instructors will engage the kids in super fun activities such as singing, dancing, playing, and immersing themselves in the Spanish language.

 

To enhance your kids' experience of learning Spanish, they will be able to practice each topic on our new platform, IXL. Through fun and interactive activities, they can reinforce each lesson learned during the after-school class. IXL lays the foundation for Spanish fluency with interactive questions, engaging audio, and real-world narratives that put a fresh spin on vocabulary and grammar skills.

 

Hungry Hungry Science K-5th

Need some science to sink your teeth into? In Hungry Hungry Science we will explore different scientific concepts using food as our main vehicle for experimentation. We will not only use ingredients to explain different ideas through simple recipes, but make edible experiments as well to learn about reactions, acids & basis, biology, nutrition and more! If you haven’t had your fill of science fun, come fill your bellies in Hungry Hungry Science.
